Open Day 2009
More than 60 enquirers visited BCV at its Annual ‘Open Day’ on October 10th. It was one of the College’s most successful Open Day’s in years.
There were tours of the College campus, including the chapel and prayer rooms, the gym, and the accommodation for single, married and families. There were ‘mini lectures’ delivered by Greg Fores (New Testament) and Martin Pakula (Old Testament), as well as a sample of the Principal’s Forum with Mike Raiter, the College Principal. Throughout the day there was the opportunity to talk with the faculty and discuss the many study options available at the Bible College of Victoria. ACMA (Australian Centre for Mission Aviation – formerly MAC) conducted tours to its Mission Aviation Centre at Coldstream Airport, and gave enquirers an opportunity to experience the flight stimulator. The BCV Dean of Studies, Delle Matthews “was swept off her feet, being busy all the time answering questions.” Delle said that, “The encouraging thing was the number of visitors, and the sincerity of them investigating the possibility of studying at BCV for 2010. When talking to some of the visitors it was pleasing to hear that someone had encouraged them to visit, whether it was a past student, pastor, mentor or family member.” It was also striking how many people visited the Open Day as a result of the college website (www.bcv.vic.edu.au). The Lord provided a beautiful spring day for the event. And between interviews visitors could relax over a sausage sizzle, a game of outdoor volleyball, a jazz band playing in the MCR, and a lovely spread of afternoon tea, muffins, scones and seasonal fruits. Enrolments for study at BCV (full-time, part-time, distance) are still open and people can contact BCV either through the website or by personally visiting the College.
