CD ROM Collection

There is a growing collection of CD Roms. They are kept with the audio cassettes. The preface on their call number is CD. Most may be borrowed. There are DVDs and videos in the Library office.

General Collection

Our main focus is on scripture, missions and theology. On a practical level we are focused on all areas of church work (pastoral care, spirituality, church work with youth)

The library is classified according to the Pettee theological system. This system is also used at most of the theological libraries in Melbourne.

Student Body computers

The student body computers are for 'BCV students only' to access the Internet. These are not the responsibility of the librarian and are maintained by the students. There are no computers to do your work on or use for printing.

Journals

The journals are housed on the main floor near the entrance to the library. They are in alphabetical order starting at the top bay near the window. The grey boxes hold smaller magazines and mission materials. If you take anything away from this area we ask that you sign out in the journals notebook on the table near the door.

The ATLA Religious Index is a CD Rom set in the computer behind the borrowing desk. It will help you locate articles in the journals. It does not contain the actual article.

Aulots is a directory to where journals that BCV does not hold can be found (http://www.anztla.org). There are many theological libraries in Melbourne that may be used as reading rooms. You don't have borrowing privileges unless you pay a fee. There is a listing of libraries on the back of this pamphlet. There are no reciprocal borrowing rights with any library.

Australasian Religion Index (ARI) is the Australian Index for journals published in Australia and New Zealand. It is housed on the shelves next to the pamphlet file.

For on line access to journals, see below for hyperlinks to journals to which BCV has subscribed.
