News

Grant (1987) and Debbie Finlay (1988): 

Grant did some further training with the UCA theological hall and was ordained in 1994. He has been working in Tasmania with the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress since Jan 1995.

Debbie is the Community Leader with the Beni-Abbes Community here in Hobart which is part of the L'Arche network of Christian communities living with people with disabilities. (Dec 06)

Mark is married to Shashi and they have two teenage children, Shireen (TAFE) and Jarrod (Yr 11). Mark and Shashi met at BCV in 1981 when Mark was preparing to serve with Mission Aviation Fellowship and Shashi had come from India to study the Diploma of World Missions. Mark started with MAF in 1982 while Shashi completed her studies at BCV. At the end of that year they were married and returned to Papua New Guinea with MAF.

The Emersons served with MAF for 23 years, based in PNG, Ballarat and Cairns. Mark's roles included charter pilot, training and checking pilot, chief pilot, chief flying instructor, general manager (PNG) and finally chief operating officer.

While at Ballarat, the Emersons were heavily involved in the vision and initial establishment years of the Mission Aviation Course. Shashi cooked meals in the Mission Aviation Centre and Mark was CFI for the MAC flying training program. At that time, the students drove from BCV to Ballarat for their technical training and stayed overnight. Mark was one of the developers of the original syllabus and advanced flying course.

Now re-established in Melbourne, the Emersons attend City Life Church in Knox and have joined a local cell group. Mark works at General Flying Services, Moorabbin Airport, as Operations Manager and Approved Testing Officer. Mark serves on the BCV Council and MAC Committee.
