Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Mark 12:30
Therefore I urge you, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is… Romans 12:1-2
For a Christian it makes no sense to ignore the mind!
What are the signs of a renewed mind? (Some insights from Dave Tomlinson and others)
Open. Curious, active, questioning. Not fearful of the new – but not gullible either.
Creative. Imaginative, thinking laterally – “outside the box”.
Reflective. Not just accumulating information, but being prepared to challenge the comfortable, the complacent and the prejudiced – even in ourselves!
Holistic. Incorporates emotion, intuition and mystery with rationality. Not a cold, destructive reasoning, but fully alive.
A bible college experience will impel you to love God more – with all your emotions, your will, your thinking and imagination, and your physical being! |
